Tiger Woods Roars Back at the 2024 Masters
The Big Cat Returns to Augusta
Woods Makes Strong Start to Title Defense
WEB AUGUSTA GEORGIA - APRIL 11:
Tiger Woods silenced any doubts about his fitness with a blistering start to the first round of the 2024 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf.
The 15-time major champion split the fairway with a booming 3-wood on the fifth tee and followed it up with a precise approach shot.
Woods, making his 26th appearance at the historic course, birdied the hole to kick off his title defense in style.
The "Big Cat" is back on the prowl at one of his favorite venues, where he has won five green jackets, including a record-tying performance in 2019.
Woods started the 1999 Masters with a birdie but eventually finished with an even-par 72. However, in 97 rounds at Augusta National, he has birdied the fifth hole more than any other player.
For Day 1 of this year's Masters, Woods will tee off at 3:54 p.m. He will play alongside Jason Day and Max Homa on Thursday and Friday.
