Denver Nuggets Win Game 1 of Western Conference Finals Against Los Angeles Lakers

Nikola Jokic Records Record-Setting Triple-Double

Nuggets Take Early Lead in Best-of-Seven Series

The Denver Nuggets took an early lead in the Western Conference Finals on Monday night with a 132-126 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Powered by Nikola Jokic's record-setting eighth triple-double of the playoffs and a dominant performance by the Nuggets' defense, Denver seized home-court advantage in the best-of-seven series.

Jokic, the reigning NBA MVP, put together a historic performance, recording 30 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists. He became just the third player in NBA history to record at least eight triple-doubles in a single playoff series, joining Oscar Robertson and Wilt Chamberlain.

The Lakers kept the game close throughout the first half, but the Nuggets took control in the third quarter, outscoring Los Angeles 35-22. Jokic was unstoppable in the paint, scoring 12 points in the period and grabbing seven rebounds. The Nuggets' defense also stepped up, holding the Lakers to just 38% shooting from the field in the second half.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 30 points, while LeBron James added 28 points and 12 rebounds. However, the Lakers struggled to contain Jokic and the Nuggets' offense, which shot 50% from the field for the game.

Game 2 of the series will be played on Wednesday night in Denver. The Nuggets will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead, while the Lakers will need to rebound and even the series before heading back to Los Angeles.
