Experienced German Coach Takes the Helm
Manfred Juni to Lead Austria's Euro Ambitions
The Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) has announced the appointment of Manfred Juni as the new manager of the national team, tasked with leading them through the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 campaign.
Juni, a former German defender, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having coached German Bundesliga clubs Stuttgart, Schalke 04, and Hamburg SV, as well as the Swiss national team. He has also worked as Sporting Director for Bayer Leverkusen.
"I am honored to have been appointed as manager of the Austrian national team. I believe that this team has the potential to achieve great things," said Juni. "I am excited to work with these talented players and help them reach their full potential."
Austria will host Euro 2024 alongside Germany, providing them with a golden opportunity to make a deep run in the tournament. They will be looking to build on their impressive performances at Euro 2020, where they reached the Round of 16.
Juni's first competitive match as Austria manager will be a friendly against Italy on March 27, 2023. The Euro 2024 qualifying draw will take place on September 23, 2022.
