Kenyan Runners Dominate Steeplechase
Unmatched Success in Olympic and World Championships
Kenyan runners have established an unparalleled legacy in the 3000-meter steeplechase, securing almost every Olympic gold medal since 1968. This dominance extended to the recent World Athletics Championships in Budapest, where Kenyan athletes swept the podium.
Olympic Superiority
At the Olympic Games, Kenyans have reigned supreme in the steeplechase, winning 15 out of 18 gold medals since 1968. Among these victories, Ezekiel Kemboi holds the distinction of being the only athlete to win three consecutive Olympic titles in the event (2004, 2008, and 2012).
World Championship Success
Kenya's dominance extends to the World Athletics Championships as well. In the 2022 edition held in Eugene, Oregon, Kenyan runners once again claimed the top three spots. Conseslus Kipruto, Benjamin Kigen, and Abraham Kibiwott finished in first, second, and third place, respectively.
